Terms of Use

These terms cover Sidelo (迷你副屏) for Mac, the iPad app and the browser receiver (“the Software”). By downloading, installing or using the Software you agree to these terms. The Software is developed and operated by Liyu Wang, an independent developer (“we”).

Pro is not on sale yet. Before launch we'll add the payment platform, price and refund policy; the version of this page in effect at that time applies.

1. Free

The free features of the Mac app are free to use: USB with no time limit, Wi-Fi for 1 hour a day, one iPad at a time, standard quality. The iPad app and the browser receiver are free.

2. Pro license

3. Updates

Pro includes 2 years of free updates from the date of the original purchase, including new features and compatibility fixes released in that period. Compatibility fixes for the two major macOS releases after your purchase are free. After 2 years, upgrading to new versions is an optional paid upgrade; if you don't upgrade, you can keep using the version you own.

4. Purchase, payment and refunds

Once Pro goes on sale, it will be sold through a payment platform acting as Merchant of Record, which handles payment, taxes and invoices; the platform, price and payment methods will be announced at launch. The refund policy will be announced at launch, and refunds are handled by the payment platform under that policy. When a purchase is refunded, its license key is deactivated.

5. Older iPads (Ad Hoc)

The native installation service for iOS 12 iPads is still in preparation. Automatic device registration and one-click installation are not available in the current Mac app. Existing testers may use a signed package prepared for their device; its expiry depends on the certificate and provisioning profile.

Registration limits, invitation rules, delivery times and re-signing terms will be published before the service opens. Browser mode does not require an iPad app installation.

6. Undocumented system interface

The Software uses an undocumented macOS interface (CGVirtualDisplay) to create the virtual display. Apple may change or remove it in a future macOS release, which may stop the Software from working until we ship a fix. We'll do our best to fix it, but can't guarantee a timely fix for every macOS release.

7. Source code and commercial use

The Software, including its source code, is provided under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0 (source-available, not an open-source license), which permits noncommercial use (personal, study, research, nonprofit). Any commercial use, including use inside a company, requires a separate commercial license — contact license@sidelo.app.

8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Software is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we make no warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from using or being unable to use the Software. Nothing in these terms affects consumer rights you have under the law where you live that cannot be excluded by agreement.

9. Trademarks

iPad, Mac, macOS, iPadOS and Sidecar are trademarks of Apple Inc. Sidelo is independent third-party software, not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; updates are published on this page with a new effective date below. Questions: support@sidelo.app.
